Two Weeks is a scary phrase

Okay, first off, I would like to apologize for all of my ridiculous spelling and grammar mistakes in this blog. I was reading some of it over, and after about 3 sentences I felt a tad sick.
You all are saints for putting up with it.
Just keep in mind I write my entries really fast, and until now did not spell check.

Today, we are leaving for the south of France.
To the beach, and more sun.
To bathing suits, and possible/probable tans (or just un-godly sunburns..).
To sand that never leaves your scalp, and hair that is allowed to look like a lion's mane.
It has been far far too long since I have been to the beach!

Yesterday was eventful.
Maelle's family came over for lunch-grandparents, counsins, aunts, uncles. It was really fun. I hung out with Maelle's little counsins (3 and 7 years old), and ate a bunch of amazing food. How could that be bad?
After that, Maelle threw a party for her class at school. And by this I mean that 20 other kids came over, went swimming, walked to the town's festival, came back, slept over in tents, and didn't go to sleep until 6 am.
Currently, everyone is dispersing slowly as we get ready for our trip.

The town's festival was for Tarte Flambée, which is basically a very very very thing round of dough, topped with creme sauce (like ricotta but thinner), onions, bacon, and cheese ( The cheese is optional. With it = Tarte gratinée. Without = Tarte nature). It is a speciality of Alsace, and is absolutely delcious. The festival took place in a big tent, with everyone crammed inside with an extremely obnoxious polka band.
After eating, it took us all about 5 minutes to leave the tent, and situate ourselves outside (away from the horrendous music).

Overall, the party was a whirlwind. Afterwards, I was so worn out from trying to understand and pay attention to the craziness ensuing around me.
I am definitely looking forward to laying on the beach for a week..

On another note, I have decided that baking with the metric system is far superior, and makes me feel like a chemist.
On Friday, Sylvie and I baked a cherry cake.. with a scale. Whoever decided that the U.S. shouldn't use the metric system was an idiot. Really.
Who needs to be different and complicated when you could be using a SCALE to bake?
I think I may have to start a movement of people in the U.S. who refuse to deal with ounces, pounds, and pints!

P.S. I am betting that I made about 10 mistakes in there. sorry.
